What is cinema? To answer this question we must ask ourselves what is storytelling? I believe it was visionary director Hayao Miyazaki who once said that: “Stories have an important role to play in the formation of human beings, that they can stimulate, amaze and inspire their listeners,” and it is self evident that A Minecraft Movie without no doubt exemplifies this quote. A Minecraft Movie directed by Jared Hess, was not simply a story or a piece of film but rather a true cinematic experience. Overall A Minecraft Movie, or rather the Minecraft experience is the best film of the year or most likely the greatest film ever created.
The astounding success of A Minecraft Movie is in no small part due to the charismatic acting of Jack Black who truly made the main character of Steve come to life. This can be seen when Jack Black said “I AM STEVE” truly awe inspiring, so inspiring that the cinema erupted into Jubilation as clapping, cheers, and praise filled the air. Overall Jack Black's delivery of lines such as: “CHICKEN JOCKEY CHICKEN JOCKEY; THIS IS AN ENDER PEARL; FLINT AND STEEL; THE NETHER; THIS IS A CRAFTING TABLE; WATER BUCKET RELEASE; COMING IN HOT; WHEN I WAS A CHILD I YEARNED FOR THE MINES; and THEY LOVE CRUSHING LOAF” was truly a masterclass with his performance receiving a ovation every couple of minutes.
What movie besides A Minecraft Movie could have united so many people from different creeds, cultures, and backgrounds to come together and enjoy cinema? What movie could have filled people with as much joy as A Minecraft Movie? The answer, none. Me and my friends went together to watch this movie, other individuals in the theatre included parents with children, and other groups of teenagers; all coming together to enjoy this picasso. It is refreshing to watch a film which knows its target audience instead of trying to reach out to a vast amount of people.
Some so-called “movie critics” may say that A Minecraft Movie was a horrible movie, that it had an unimpressive narrative or terrible writing. To them I say that they clearly were watching a different film or simply were uncultured enough to appreciate true art. The interaction between the main cast of characters surpasses those of the fellowship, and the story's complexity and interwovenness with the Minecraft cannon rivals and exceeds that of the MCU. For me the most emotional scene in this movie was the noble sacrifice of Jason Momoa's character, Garret “The Garbage Man” Garrison. Who in the face of a horde of piglins blew himself up in order to let his friends escape. This moment was so saddening that it brought me to tears, even more upsetting than the ending of Marley and Me. A Minecraft Movie instills its viewers with a message of teamwork; that it is only through friendly cooperation that we all may succeed. Perchance A Minecraft Movie is an axiomatic microcosm of contemporary society.Shot from film Contributor Anonymous
In conclusion I will ask the question that was posed in the beginning: what is cinema? A Minecraft Movie is in the cinema. A Minecraft Movie exceeds its genre and medium to have lasting impacts on us all. A Minecraft Movie was an experience for which showcased at the highest degree the sense of camaraderie and community that Minecraft has nurtured over its tenure. I want to end this review with Steve's immortal words, “we mine and then we craft, we Mincraft.”"REAL" rotten tomatos rating Quinn Peacock
